This is very helpful information...but scary at the same time.
What if someone with PA in a waiting room coughed on you,
would you likely get it? Do you think doctors could carry the
bug from patient to patient on their clothes or stethoscope?
There's not much you can do about...
I've heard a lot about the dangers of Cepacia and some mention of
Pseudomonas. Just how bad can Pseudomonas be? What are
the best practices for not getting Pseudomonas? Does it
spread easily? What organs does it effect? Are there
various strains? Some bad...some not so bad?

What's...
Is there any advantage to listing hospitals that might have Cepacia
lurking around and where Docs/nurses/waiting rooms may not be
making a best effort to adhere to the highest standards to
prevent transmission? I've heard that a clinic in Eastern
Washington is treating two patients with Cepacia...
1) For example, my grandson has the CF mutation 1717-G>A which
we assume probably came though my line. Would this mean
that some of my siblings, and my son would have the same
1717-G>A? Or could it be the 508 strain just as
easily?

2) My grandson has both the 1717-G>A and the delta...
We had a friend who had 6 CF kids and one non-CF. Another
friend had 4 kids, two CF and two non-CF. It all has to do
with averages and luck but with a larger sampling the above
percentages are comforting.
I've offered to pay for CF tests for all my children (or their
spouses) since I'm probably the carrier of a recessive gene that
got passed to my son who has a CF baby. Are these tests
complicated blood tests? Expensive? Thanks.
Congratulations!
You're now old enough to have experienced about all the major CF
treatment approaches. Do you have words of advice for those
CFers just starting out as children?
Grandfather to month-old CF baby
Please pardon the sensitive question but we're new to the CF scene
and are learning all we can as fast as we can. I'd heard that
certain bacteria are worse for CF patients than others...and that
if one CF patient happens to be fighting this bacteria...that its
transmission to another CF kid...
I've heard that mortality rates vary from hospital to hospital for
CF patients and that this may be related to the
cleanliness/training/conscientious that varying hospitals have.
Sometimes it may be related to a particular cutting-edge
doctor. Anyone care to list the top 10 CF hospitals?
Top 5...
