I personally have always lived my life without regrets and did almost everything I wanted too. So now post transplant there is no great revelations for me to have to embrace. I am very big on goal setting and accomplishing things in life.

Well as long as the "center of excellence" has a good record I would go there. The cost savings I received by using Penn was quite substantial.

Blue cross has something called centers of distinction which if used by the policy holder they offer incentives ($10,000 stipend for travel and lodging expenses). So I went to Penn first for all the pre testing and was officially listed...

I was up and walking in days (while in ICU),was weak as a kitten too. At HUP they have a standing walker that I leaned on very heavily. It's all the chest tube boxes that needed to be carried by others or strapped to the cart that was funny.

The one exception is when coughing or sneezing the first few weeks post transplant. But if you hold something against your chest it makes it more tollerable. The first sneeze did surprise the heck out of me because I was not in pain then wow! But there again very managable. Follow Lex's lead...

eh it's not too bad. I had more pain from being backed up after surgery than the actual wound.
