Hey all!
My daughter with CF is in kindergarten this year. She's had a couple field trips so far and my husband has always been a chaperone. Another field trip is coming up and the teacher told me he didn't have to be a chaperone because they wouldn't be eating anything on this field trip...
I was just wondering what you all use to boost your CF'ers appetite? Currently mine take 1/2 tablet of periactin three times a day. They were on megace for a little bit, and that worked great, but gave my little guy cushing syndrome. Just curious.
Hi Friends
My little guy has CF and had his first abdominal ultrasound a couple days ago. His gall bladder was measured at 1cm, which his doctors are calling micro-gallbladder. I was just wondering if anyone out there has experienced micro-gallbladder and if they treat it? If so, how? Does...
I'm sure this has been asked a billion, trillion times...but alas, once more. Does anyone use a germ free humidifier during the seasonal changes? When the heat turns on, is when my kiddos seem most likely to catch their colds, and I was wondering if I should look into it. We do the whole...

Are there other antacids that your kids take besides zantac or prevacid? Zantac doesn't seem to be as effective anymore, and we've experienced side effects from prevacid. Just wondering if there was anything else out there. Thanks!
I'm not sure if this is just a Sadie being a 2 year old issue or a CF thing, but it's definitely a new development. Lately Sadie's appetite has been less than. She's never hungry and getting her to eat has been a challenge. She usually has a good appetite but the last few weeks it's been...
Right now Sadie and Wyatt are seen at NMCP, which is ok. I'm not super crazy about them, haven't been from the start, they are just ok. We really liked the nurse we had, which is why we stayed. However, she just left, so now I'm thinking about switching to CHKD. It's closer to home, we...
So Wyatt had immunizations on thursday of last week (Hib, DTap, Pneumoccal(sp?), and something else). Saturday night, he has a slight fever, he's spitting up more than normal, and his eye becomes all swollen and inflamed, starts tearing and leaking this white stuff. I call the doctor, and they...
How often does your doctor check your vitamin levels? Sadie just had hers done about six months ago and they started her on a vitamin D supplement and lowered her vitamax. Today she had another visit and they wanted to check her vitamin levels again, but I held them off til next time because I...
Sadie is almost 2 and just cultured pseudomonas for the first time. She's not showing any symptoms and they started her on two weeks of cipro with 28 days of tobi. Is this normal? Can we get rid of it? Is 2 too early to culture this infection? I have no idea what to expect, so any...
I'm sure there's a post for this already, but....
My daughter is 18 months old. She didn't have any illness until 14 months when she had her first ear infection (it seems to correspond with teething and her molars coming in). She had another about a month and half later.
She started with...
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the proper forum...but here goes.
We just started doing the nebulizer with pulmozyme for my daughter. The guy came to show us about set up but only the nanny was here when he came. Do you all clean the nebulizer pieces every day? If so, how? I have those...
I am 27 weeks pregnant and my daughter is 16 months old and started using the vest about a month ago. When we do her vest she usually sits on our lap and watches one of her tv shows. I didn't think anything of it until recently, but is it okay to have the vest vibrating against my belly for 20...
This is probably a dumb question, but ever since my 15-month old started using her vest she has a constant runny nose. She's always stuffy and sounds like she has trouble breathing through her nose. Is this normal? Does this mean the vest is working? I feel so bad for her 'cause when she...
Hi all!
I have a question about my 13 month old. She had five vials of blood taken on wednesday morning and hasn't been the same since (it's now sunday). She's been whiny and crying and running a fever off and on. Nothing seems to be making her happy. She's also been spitting up (which she...
I posted this in the nutrition section too, but thought that maybe some other parents might have gone through this as well.
We just went to our 12 month well-baby visit and the pediatrician advised weaning Sadie off the bottle. I haven't pushed the sippy cup because quite honestly, I don't know...
We just went to our 12 month well-baby visit and the pediatrician advised weaning Sadie off the bottle. I haven't pushed the sippy cup because quite honestly, I don't know how I would replace those calories. As it is, she is more mobile and only gained 1 pound in the last three months...
My husband and I recently found out we are pregnant with our second child. Our first, a little girl, was born with CF; we had no idea we were carriers. She's about to turn 1 and is doing wonderfully. While this was not the intended route for a second baby, we are very excited about the...
We found out that our baby girl has CF when she was four weeks old. She's now two months and we know her mutation is DF508 and 1717G>A. I know no two cases are the same, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this specific combonation and how you are fairing.
