Hi everyone! USACFA, the group who publishes the quarterly newsletter for adults with CF, CF Roundtable, has an exciting announcement to make: subscribing to CF Roundtable is now FREE! Of course, it is easier on us financially if you choose the online subscription option, but we are offering the...

Hey all, I need some input/advice etc. My transplant evaluation at Duke was last week. They called yesterday to say I'm not a candidate due to esophageal motility issues due to my reflux. Has anyone had similar issues? Is there any effective treatment? I know I've asked some of this before but...
This is a repeat post of one in the tranplant section but figured not everybody goes to that section.

Hey guys. Just got out of the hospital today after 8 days recovering from an exacerbation. The good news is I went in early enough that it wasn't a horribly hard stay. The bad news is I had some discouraging sputum culture results.
I grow a few PA strains. One is a bit resistant and is the...
Good news on the cancer. Stage 1 but might end up with a nasty surgery and colostomy bag. Thankfully Duke has a 2 year wait post cancer and not longer. Glad I started the evaluation when on the healthy side of things.

Hey All,
Had my colonoscopy today due to red blood in stools. During the exam the doc found a decent size mass. The doctor said he thinks it's a little more than 50% chance it could be cancerous. Of course I've spent the rest of today researching rectal cancer etc.
I'm hoping it is benign. Has...
Hey All,
Got back from Duke evaluation a week ago. Things went very well and I LOVED the team there. I'm slowly updating a blow by blow daily synopsis of the events on by blog.
While there I found out I have reflux and esophageal motility issues. So we are working on a plan to deal with those...

Starting my eval week on Monday Aug 2nd @ Duke. Really psyched to meet the team there. Not too nervous except for my infectious disease appointment. Thankfully it's Monday AM. The rest of the week should be AOK. Should be a long strange trip down there for sure.
Peace,
Steph
Hey All,
I'm in Indianapolis and just found out that my local transplant center is out of network. Centers that make sense for me are:
Cleveland Clinic - 5-6 hours from home
Barnes Jewish St Louis - 5 hours from home
Duke - have relatives in NC
Any input on the above centers would be greatly...
Has anyone ever tried this? What is the dosage you used if you did? Did it work well for you?
Just curious. An RT mentioned it to me a while back and I just started thinking about it.
Thanks!
Steph
Hey all,
I'm wondering how often people get sputum cultures done? My doc is not at a CF care center. So I'm wondering if the CF centers have some sort of protocol for regular cultures? (for example every 3 months).
Thanks for the responses!
Steph
Hey all,
As usual thanks in advance for all the great input.
I started pulmonary rehab 8 weeks ago and am loving it. When I started I would end up taking a nap after returning home and having a late lunch. Initially I thought this was just my body getting used to the exercise.
However, I'm...
Hi All,
Could anyone provide details on how to do these methods? I had an RT work with me on AD in the hospital. However, I've seen other methods called AD that differ somewhat from how I was taught. Any insight on AD and/or active cycle of breathing would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Steph
After reading the noexcuses blog and looking for new stuff on the great posts, I realized that N-acetylcysteine is available OTC from BioAdvantx Pharma Text
I figure I'll give it a two month...
