The biggest thing that helped me was that 'I Wanted to
Live'!!!!!!!!! And to live as long as we can, and to live so we
don't stand out too much from our friends (coughing etc..) we have
to do all our treatments and meds! So that's what motivated me,
although my brothers had a hard time accepting...
I feel my doctors listen to me, I guess the biggest thing is let
them know you know your body and you listen to it! Learn all you
can so you know what they are talking about and then always ask
lots of questions and don't feel bad about taking their time, you
pay them!!!!!
I really can't remember how long I've been doing my own meds, I
guess about 10, I really took over my own health at that age and
always did my therapy, though I'm sure my parents still checked-up
on me and made sure I was doing it right. Definately by 15
though. I did my own IV therapy around 18.

Also remember that studies showed Tobi (and Pulmozyme I think) to
be the cause of some hemoptysis, I haven't taken either of them in
two years because of the major hemoptysis I was having.
My husband had that and it hurts! I'm sorry you have it! They gave him some pain killers and then some anti-inflammatory med. I don't remember what it was, but it happens because there's inflammation in there. I should have my husband give you a better explaination. I'm at work but I'll talk to...
