15 Month Old going for CF test

Not trying to scare you here but the sweat test is by no means conclusive especially when a negative result is given. The only true way to rule out CF is a complete panel genetic screening.

Your sons symptoms are consistent with CF so a genetic test should be your next step.

I agree with Claudette -- the doctor should still be following up with genetic testing based on the symptoms that you have stated.

I was told my daughter was "negative" too with 3 sweat tests -- 8 years later I learned the truth -- people with CF can still have a "negative" sweat test result.

Please follow through with genetic testing so you will know how best to treat your son's symptoms.

Did you get a chance to ask what his number was? It would be really helpful to learn that -- anything above 20 would still make me quite nervous. If they say something like 9, well, then I might change my tune. But if you have health insurance it would still be a good idea to follow through with testing.
