Hello, just wondering if any cfers out there get tonsil stones in their tonsils. It where the pockets in your tonsils fill with a white, hard, little stones? Whenever I am feeling slightly run down, I get them. Wondering if they are cf related. Also I know 30% of woman with cf are not fertile. Why is this? Just because the musus is too thick or is it something more? What kind of test does the obgyn do to see if I am part of that 30%? For anyone who has cf and a kidney stone.... I am doing the surgery Thurs. They are doing the ultra sonic waves on my 9mm stone. Any advice to help me out? I am not feeling confident about this at all. Thanks for your advice!!

We have no experience with tonsil stones, but my son had a salivary gland stone this year. His ENT told him that people who get dehydrated easily or people who take allergy medicine that dries their mouth would be more prone to stones. Maybe they are similar.
Good luck with your surgery!

I don't have CF; however, I struggled with this for years and finally had my tonsils removed at the age of 35. I tried gargling, removing that junk, worried about bad breath... Apparently tonsil stones are pockets of infection that run very deep, my ENT indicated my right tonsil was about the size of a golf ball and filled with that nastiness.

For years I had horrible "sinus" headaches and I began to notice that after a particularly horrible sinus headache, tonsil production increased. After my tonsilectomy, other than post surgical pain, I felt MUCH better. Felt like I had more room in my throat to breathe. Several of DH's cousins had similar issues -- again no cf, but huge tonsils filled with stones.

Ratatosk: Nearly identical here--No CF, had huge tonsils since a kid and then in my 30s had constant horrible ear aches and rounds of antibiotics. Dentist notice tonsil stones and then I saw the issue--disgusting!! Had tonsils out at 38ish--one of the best decisions of my life! Ear aches gone and no more issues since!
