A Poem for Fathers Day

FOOTPRINTS

"Walk a little slower Daddy," said a child so small.
"I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they are hard to see,
So walk a little slower, Daddy
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up,
You are what I want to be
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you!"

Great poem! Thanks for sharing!!!
I love gifts from the early elementary school days -- they are always so genuinely from the heart.
A favorite I once got for Mother's Day was from my eldest when he was 3 (he's now 7) -- it was a phrase printed out: "MOTHER AND LOVE DIFFER ONLY IN NAME FOR THE HAPPINESS THEY BRING ARE ONE AND THE SAME" below which was a picture of my little guy dressed with a fidora and a tie, carrying a briefcase!
