ADEKs

Has anyone been having problems taking Adeks? ie, the stick to your throat.
I find them incredibly hard to take even when doused in youghurt. Any ideas?

Do you have the chewable kind? Because some people think they work when they just swallow them. But yu have to chew them. Thats what my cf dr. told me. Their yucky, to say mildly, but it's only a minute. I have been told there's also a capsule form. which my pharmacies have never said if they could get or not. Anyway hope this helps. Eva

check out the vitamins on www.sourcecf.com....they have everything that the adeks have, but they are in a gel capsule, so it is a LOT easier to swallow. i ordered some b/c i hated the taste of adeks so much, and my cf doctor and nutritionist okayed them.

My daughter really hates taking the ADEKs of any kind. But she has a feeding tub, I just use a pill crusher and let then sit in the water for a while then put it right in her feeding tub.. but make sure that it has desovled because it will clog the tub.. KRWilliams

yes, the vitamins i was talking about (found on sourcecf.com) have the water soluble forms of A, D, E and K. I swear by them now b/c I just hated the taste of the ADEKs.

I guess i'm the odd mouse out, because I love the taste of ADEKs! When I was a kid, I used to take more than I needed, just so I could taste them some more! =-) I mean, okay, I admit they do taste kind of weird, but I've always thought it was a good kind of weird.

To the person who asked if ADEKs were water soluable, if I remember right from my nutririon class, the vitmans A, D, E, an K are all fat soluable vitamins. (probably why CFers usually don't have enough. =-) Fat soluable vitams are toxic if you take too much, though, so if there is anyone else out there who likes the taste of ADEKs, don't take more than you are prescibed (like I did. =-)

And yes, A, D, E, and K are the fat soluble vitamins... but if I remember correctly from what I heard... the ADEKs are basically the fat soluble vitamins in water soluble form so CFers have an easier time absorbing them.

I don' t know about anyone else, I'm from Ontario, and the last I heard they stopped making ADEk. I had to change back to the Flintstone and vitamin e method
