I have a question..

We don't have ADEK's overhere.
I have all my vitamins seperate. Or not all i must say, i have A and D together.

With my anual blood check-up for vitamins they found that the level for vitamin E low. I had to up that from 200 mg a day to 300. The other vitamins were ok.

No i'm wondering. What do you do when you have ADEK's and one level is low but the others are not?

Just wondering really...

Hi, Marjolein!

How are ya?

I don't take ADEK, but I take Source CF vits, which are similar and include zinc. Are you taking vits that are water soluble? I think CFers won't absorb as much of just a regular OTC vitamin cause of our malabsorption issues, so not sure how that factors into your low level of E (or if you even have a CF-formulated vit available... but, you could check into Source CF).

I think the one time I was low in a particular vitamin the docs had me add an ENTIRE second (or third?) ADEK (back when I was on them)... Not sure if that is what others do, but I think I did that until my next appointment and when my levels were up they had me go off it and just suggested foods to eat with that particular vitamin. I can't really remember cause it was when I was much younger... I always seemed defficient in one vitamin or another.... I think cause I had much worse malabsorption issues.

Hope all is well with you!

Hi Sonia!

Thanks for your message. I'm ok. Regular shortness of breath that i'm getting used to so so fast. Many of times i don't notice it. Like my physio tells me to stop riding the sationary bike and when he tells me i think, well that might be a good idea.. I don't really have those attacks of really bad SOB. Think that was caused by the respiratory virus i probably had. These lungs can't take much.
Otherwise still anxiously waiting for my hospital appointment.

I don't think the vits that i take are water soluble.. Never really had issues with them really. Last time i had to take more vit E was over 10 years ago and this was the first time i heard it was a little on the low side again.
I do have more problems with my stomach this past year i think or maybe a little longer (though it's much better the past weeks so fingers crossed <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">).

Was just wondering what you all do cause i had to change this one vitamin. It's good you could come off it again. I don't think they will check my levels again untill next summer, they usually do that ones a year.

How are you???

Love, Marjolein

DS is on aqua adeks. Prior to that, he was on adeks drops, BUT his doctor also has him supplement a Vitamin K (mephyton) tablet once a week and he's always had us put a drop of vitamin A & E in his formula/breakfast drink. When we had issues finding adeks a few times when he was a baby, we briefly used regular baby vitamin drops; however, his dietician was concerned with it being long term because she indicated that zinc was also an important vitamin cfers needed and regular baby vitamins didn't contain any.

With the switch to aqua adeks and an increase in vitamin levels, we wondered if any of those should change; however, at DS's last clinic visit his Vitamin A and E were increased. Think a couple of his last vitamin levels were borderline -- close to low. Seems so odd to me that I'm giving my 4-year vitamin pills. He's now on 400 iu of Vitamin E.
