Hi everyone,
My surgeon placed a 4.5 French baby port in me today as I told him I didnt want anything big for my small frame (170cm male). The port looked tiny just wondering does it still have all the same functionality etc. Can you push the antibiotics at same speed etc.

All thoughts appreciated,
Thanks in advance
Jay

I have a child sized port, not sure what the measurements are. I've had nurses miss it supposedly because it is small but I do my own port flushes now and access it myself for antibiotics. It doesn't like to give blood return, but I'm not sure if that is because of its size. I haven't had problems with speeds of the drugs, I've had mine for almost 5 years now.

My first port was a ped port.. It flushed, gave blood return & was same as the port if have now as far as infusion time..

Unfortunately it had to come out due to a blood clot, which had nothing to do w/ the size of the port, just my crazy body lol

Good Luck w/ yours.. I love ports !! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> joni
