For a long time, I was able to continue with Judo and Aikido to keep my lungs clear, but lately, my lungs have been getting worse.
It's been three years ago when I had a serious injury which messed up my colar bone. Because of that, I was basically "kicked out" of my Aikido because the instructor wouldn't take the responsibility if I got a worse injury. I don't blame him for that, but it is the reason why I couldn't continue practicing, because I didn't just "Quit".
Anyway, since that type of cardiopulmonary excercise is no longer a way of life for me, and my Iaido is not enough, the wife has been "harrassing" me to find some other form of excercise, whether it be swimming, aerobics, or even basic calestenics. I find it difficult enough to find the time in the day for some things I want to do, but to find time for something to help may be equally difficult.
So, from this, I'M wondering what other ideas there are. The wife was actually suggesting to get an aerobics video, which would save on the time and expense of going to a sports club. Though having access to a club offers more space than what little is available at home.
Ideas are welcome, maybe they'll give me a little direction in what I want to accomplish. (fulfilling what I enjoyed from Aikido with getting good cardiopulmonary excercise)

Hi Fred,
I don't have CF, but I am a 41 yr old male and I started doing Yoga a little over a year ago. I do a constant flow Yoga, which incorporates stretching, but also a good cardio work out as well. It has helped me lose a few pounds, increase my flexibility, get my cholesterol in check and mellow out a bit afterward. It is also good at teaching you to control your breathing. I need a class environment like the YMCA to stay motivated. Look for a class called "Power" Yoga.....Sean

To SEANP,
Yoga sounds like a good idea, I still yet need the energy just to check at a sports club close to home (walking distance) about their prices, since I saw they have various types of yoga classes available.

However, to bonniebaby,
My wife is pushing the DVD idea, to avoid all that extra expense on a sports club. Unfortunately, in Japan, a YMCA is rare to find, I'm on national social health insurance, so my employers won't have any discounts available.
I'll do a search on the Aikido DVD's (though it may not help since Aikido needs a minimum of two people for training), but I'm wondering what recommendations there are for yoga DVD's?

BTW, one thing that got my interest at the sports club is an Aerobics class that uses Martial Arts and Boxing techniques...strange because that was the type of aerobics I was doing when I was in Taekwon-Do many ages ago!
