ALLERGIES!

My allergies are killing me! I live in San Francisco and was out of town in Oregon for the weekend...and noticed a huge difference in the amount of sniffling and sneezing that i usually do.

Yesterday I sneezed constantly at work for the latter couple hours!

I took Claritin but it just seems too subtle.

Any advice for allergy sufferers? I know I should see an ENT and have my sinuses looked at, too. Something tell me that if I got some sinus surgery that would help a TON.

ALso, does anyone here do allergy shots? any other ideas?

thanks a ZILLION! <img src="i/expressions/noseblow.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I completely understand where you are coming from. I live in Kansas and suffer from Allergies BIG TiME. I have been taking a lot of different meds for my allergies I have been on Zyrtec 10mg once a day, Singulair 10mg once a day, Flonase 2 sprays 2 times a day each nostril plus Astalin(sp?) taken same as Flonase. I do nasal washings before each Flonase one in the morning and one at night. I even have to do eye drops because my eyes get allergies all up in them too. I have talked to my DR about allergie shots but he doesn't want to start them quiet yet not sure why he is the type to wait and see....

Hope this helps you out some

Have you seen an allergist? Check out sakasuka's blog if you haven't done so...she's got some good advice on dealing with allergies.

I finally realized a couple years ago that each time I got a sinus infection, it moved on down to my lungs. My sinuses were in bad shape (couldn't breathe through my nose well), so I ended up having surgery. Even after surgery though, the infection developed again. I was put on all the allergy meds and a tobramycin nasal flush. That has kept it manageable, but still I have problems.

I saw an allergist recently and had all the testing done. Basically I have terrible allergies. I've bought the bedding encasings, purchased a hepa air filter, and have started the allergy shots just recently. I'm hoping they'll help in time.

I think you really ought to see your ENT and an allergist as well.

Randmel89: You said the doc doesn't want to start the shots....have you had any of the testing done?

THanks! Sometimes it's like we focus so much on CF we neglect other issues...but this is definitely connected to the whole picture!

I saw an allergist a couple years ago and got tested (basically I'm allergic to a lot of stuff including dust, cats, etc.) but there was never any follow through. I think that seeing BOTH an ENT and allergist is definitely in order!

Zyrtec, huh? Are there any side effects (drowsiness, etc.?)

Allergy shots would be AWESOME !
