am i super paranoid about running the air out of my tubing before each dose, even if it's only 6 inches or so? the nurses always seem to be like, oh, you need a LOT of air to hurt you. but if you let a little in many times, does that give the same result?

thanks.

no, a little bit of air over a long period of time can't hurt you. your body will absorb the tiny bubbles. it is only if you get an air bubble big enough to actually obstruct the blood flow in the blood vessels that you would have a problem. the little bubbles that you absorb disperse in your body so there is no way they can collect to form a larger bubble of air.

I am compulsive about the air bubbles thing too. Though I have been told the same thing by docs and nurses alike. I still do not like to see the air bubbles and always ask if they can just flush the line free of air bubbles if it is doable. I always get the air bubbles out as well before I do any meds on my own.

Take Care,
Linds
