am i the only one paranoid about air?

am i super paranoid about running the air out of my tubing before each dose, even if it's only 6 inches or so? the nurses always seem to be like, oh, you need a LOT of air to hurt you. but if you let a little in many times, does that give the same result?

I say better safe than sorry. The IV meds are overfilled because they expect that a little bit is lost when the air is purged. I'd much rather lose a few mLs of a 250mL medication than risk having an air bubble.

Especially in the veins....the Heart doesn't "burb" like the stomach does!

No your not alone, and six inches it a LOT, if you ask me..just ask if they can please remove the air, that you would feel better ( my nurses do it even if there is a big bubble... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> Joni 55 y/o f w c/f
