Any advice on preventing CFRD?

Hey there everyone. I hope everyone is doing well tonight and had a great weekend. OKay, so thank you all who took the time to give me info about CFRD and tune-ups. I have been dealing with the news of having pre-diabetes and having yearly tune-ups better since getting advice and info from you all who posted. So thank you so much for that!! But I have a question now for those who have had experience with pre-diabetes. Has anyone been able to slow down the process of getting CFRD. I know some of you have given me good advice about cutting out sugar and exercising. Besides that has anyone discovered anything that seemed to prevent or slow down the process of getting diabetes?

Hello,
Just want a little advice ahead of time. I have a 9 yr. old w/cf. She has an app. with an Endocrinologist Monday. She just got out of the hospital a few weeks ago.Did the tol. test and came back normal. But on her discharge papers they wrote ,no sweetened drinks. So been trying to cut out the sodas..just given her diet caff. free drinks mostly. She is a picky eater...loves potatoes. She gets 600 ml a night thru. g-tube of pulmocare. So that helps her weight. And now they have her on prednisone every other day. Is the prednisone a bad thing to be on if trying to put off the cfrd for a long as you can??And could anyone give me advice on what not to let her eat or drink??So much stuff has so much sugar in it.And what are some things I can look for that she can have. It is just so hard to deal with a picky 9 yr. old that will only eat alot of stuff that will only effect her in the longrun....Thanks

Did you watch the video about CFRD from the CFRI Annual conference? The endocrinologist on there talks about whether CFRD can be avoided. Check it out.

my advice- stay off prednisone. It causes me to go into temporary full on CFRD when I'm on it and they never can be sure if It'll go away. So thats my only advice.
