Anyone been on Rifabutin?

One of the new medicines they chose for Josh is rifabutin. After the first dose he vomited then got a fever with aches (all known side effects).

Has anyone had experience with this drug, did you have side effects and if so, how long did they last?

Jane, is it an antibiotic? I have never heard of it.

Aww poor Josh, sounds like your having one He!! of a time. Sorry I have not been on that, so I'm no help. But I just thought I would let ya know that I'm thinking about you guys. If its not one thing, its another. Poor guy!

Yes its an antibiotic used for MAC.

Sorry, Jane, don't know anything about this one.

I think it's also sold under the brand name of Mycobutin . Maybe someone will recognized it with that name.

Those are not easy side effects. I am so sorry that Josh has to go through this.

It seems like he gets ALL the side effects every time he's on a new med. We are very encouraged that there is something that will work on that bacteria, but its too bad its not going to be easy for him.
