I regularly irrigate using a store bought solution (Breathease XL), but it is getting very expensive and I would like to start making my own.

I am interested in hearing what other people use, especially solutions containing XYLITOL.

(I typically irrigate using a 16 oz solution)

Thanks!!!

Here's a link to an article I wrote about nasal irrigation; it contains a recipe.
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.helium.com/items/965239-cystic-fibrosis-patients-prone">Sinus Rinses for Cystic Fibrosis</a>

-Isotonic saline-

1 teaspoon of sea salt or kosher salt

1 cup of warm water (or room temperature will do)
teaspoon of baking soda

Combine all ingredients in a cup or bowl. Using a bulb syringe, draw the salt water into the bulb.

I got this from my ENT today.

Mix 1 pulmicort respule (2cc ampule/0.5mg) in 240ml saline mix in Neil Med bottle. Irrigate once a day.

For children using 4 oz. bottles use 0.25mg respule. This method is an alternative tx to achieve a steroid level in between the systemic oral steroids and topical Nasal Steroid spray. Don't use together with steroid nasal spray.

Johnson Baby (NO Tear) Shampoo:
Mix 3ml of shampoo in 240ml saline mix in Neil bottle. Irrigate once a day.

For Children using 4oz bottle. use 1.5 ml of shampoo.
