ANYONE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

When we went to DisneyWorld last month I started having pain in the heels of my feet. By the 5th day we were there every step was horribly painful. To make it worse if I sit for more than a few minutes the pain is unbearable when I stand up.

I thought it would go away after we got home and were not walking many miles a day. Well, it has only gotten worse. Now the pain is there even when I am not walking.

Anyone ever have this happen before? I have no idea what could be causing it.

I get this when I am on my feet for long periods & more so depending on the shoes I wear. I never consulted a doctor about it, but I am ASSuming its a heal spur of sorts. When mine has been super bad I soaked my foot, but nothing that lasted if I gave my feet a rest!

When you went to WDW were you wearing new shoes or different shoes you were not used to wearing? I know if I wear shoes I am not used to when I go to the parks I have serious problems with my feet.

Also when you walk you may be putting more pressure on the backs of your feet (i.e. heels). If you pay attention when you are walking and try to keep from putting too much pressure on your heels that may help them to get better. Sometimes I tend to dig in with my heels when I am in a hurry or walking a lot.

It may just be that they got irritated from all of the walking at WDW and because you are continuing to go about your daily routine they haven't had a chance to recoop.

Also an idea I know it helps me sometimes, get an ice pack or bag with ice and sit them on the ground. Then just rest your heels on them while you are sitting. It may help to ice the area and relieve some pain. It may not help - and if that is the case don't worry about it, but I know that helps me with my feet and knees when we go to WDW and I end up with pain.

Hope they start feeling better.

Thank you for the responses.

The only medication I am on is Singulair.

I did not wear new shoes on the trip. I wear converse brand tennis shoes and they seem to give pretty good support.

I hate that this is happening. You don't realize how much you depend on your feet till they start aching!

Thanks again

Seana, I hope that while wearing your tennis shoes you have them properly laced up, I laugh when I see people wearing these type shoes without their laces done up as they are causing damage to their feet, well laugh is maybe too strong a word. Do you have any numbness in your leg , it could be a trapped nerve from the knee down, a bit like carpal tunnel . I suppose varicose veins could cause a similar sensation, Its both feet? well that would rule out trapped nerves. Looks like your footwear.

Also, having been to WDW myself, have you considered the amount of walking and standing that you do there will be far greater than what you might normally spend on your feet.

LOL I remember this being the look that was in while I was in high school. I tried it. I couldnt figure out how to walk without them tied yet others did just fine so once again I didnt follow the trend!

I've had that problem many times...and I think Lindsey had a good suggestion to ease the pain...ice it. I was told the nerve endings in the heal are just becoming inflamed, and icing it will cut down the blood circulation to ease the pain, or that is what I think the remedy is for.
Also, being on your feet longer than normal will definitiely do that, along with either improper footwear, or improperly lacing them. I had one time which the dress shoes I was wearing was too hard for me to walk twenty minutes to work, so I had to toss those things and get a pair that would handle that. Before getting a car, I had probably walked over a mile on most days.
Hope that information is helpful. Giving your feet some extra rest should also give it time to heal. Good Luck!

Thanks to all for the responses.

I think I made it seem like I wear normal converse shoes, you know the high top one that come in every color. The shoes I wear are Converse brand, but they are normal white tennis shoes.

I am pretty sure I lace them up properly. They feel like they are snug on my feet. I do remember growing up and the fad was not lacing your shoes. I was never able to do that. I am clumsy enough.......lol.

I have stayed off my feet as much as possible the past two days (and my house has suffered....what a mess) and have iced them but I do not seem to have much relief. I was really hoping I was not going to have to go to the doctor for this seeing we have crappy insurance and are in the middle of trying to change insurance companies, but I think I am going to have to.

Thank you all so much for the help! I appreciate all of the responses.
