Anyone Use A Fireplace In Their Home?

My mom always told me that due to my CF I need the glass doors on my fireplace. She said that its not good for my to use my fireplace in my house whitout the doors. Does anyone use a fireplace in their house? Have your doctors ever told you anything? We moved into our house almost 2 years ago and have not used the fireplace here due to the fact that we dont have the glass doors. So I wanted to ask you all what you think or have heard.

I have had fireplaces various times throughout my life. I was never told by a healthcare worker of any kind to have doors. We just put them on because it made the fire last longer & the warmth of the fire actually heated the room or house.

I can see where it would be a good idea. The smoke is less likely to come into the room with the doors.

I asked my son's CF doctor about this about a month ago. She said not to use real wood--use the logs that you can buy at the store. She said that it would be better if the glass doors were closed, but not that they HAD to be.

We have a fireplace in our apt , but we've never used it . I put candles in it and light all the candles. Sometimes I think about us building a fire, but it seems like it's really messy and I wasn't sure about the smoke thing either. I'd also like to see what others have to say about it.
