My husband went to clinic at UNC for about 4 years. It is a great clinic, with great doctors and an awesome coordinator. We were really happy there and have considered moving back so that my husband can return to the clinic.

Thanks for the reply. DId you live in NC during that 4 years? If so, how did you like it? Weather? Things to do? Cost of living?

We did live in NC for those 4 years--1 year in Winston-Salem and 3 in Raleigh. We liked it alright...I was really HOT and I didn't care for that. And the humidity is bad too...summers were miserable. But, the plus side is that everywhere has AC. The state is absolutely beautiful though. We did like that. As for things to do, I guess it depends on what you like to do. We much prefer living in Seattle (which is where we are now) for activities, etc. On of the downsides of the heat is that it restricts what outdoor activities you can do.

The cost of living is really good there. That is something that we definitely miss! Housing prices are very reasonable.

My daughter went to Duke for 22 years. It is an awesome hospital. Many hospital stays and I would not want to be anywhere else. Excellent transplant team. Although Crystal was not a good candidate they really helped her through the process. It is hot though. But beautiful. We live in Charlotte NC so we are used to it. Anything and everything to do.

I have been going to Duke since I was Dx at 3 months old. I believe it is a great hospital. I have also had many hospital stays. I have not met the transplant team yet and no in a hurry to do so. But I have been satisfied with the care, CF and non-CF related, that I have had at Duke. Now, I have never been to UNC so I cant compare it with Duke. But I love Duke and never thought of changing.

One of the members here flies in to go to UNC, from one of the northern states. Says it's a great place.
