Just wondering if anyone has had any experience being prescribed oral steroids for hemoptysis? Will they help? Any thoughts?

I havent heard of it before. With all the episodes of hemoptysis ive had i have never even had that suggestion by any of my doctors. In fact in all my 42 years, i have yet to be on steroids.( knock on wood)
I guess if inflammation is what is causing the hemoptysis, maybe, but thats kind of like the chicken coming before the egg theory......... Because its the infection that causes the inflammation. You can treat both, but both rarely ever really go away.

Steroids will help the inflammation that may be the underlying cause of the hemoptysis, but I don't think it will directly help the hemoptysis. In fact, steroids can interfere with your body's ability to heal from the hemoptysis.

I did but not for the hemoptysis itself. I had IV's and steroids because they figured out that my re-occurant bleeds were due to inflammation caused by high IGE levels that were indicative of ABPA.
