Yes. Anna had aspergillus when she was 14. That was back in '01. Back then, we were told the main problem with it was if she was allergic. Which she was. If she hadn't been they would not have treated it. She took Sporonox for about 6 months and prednisone for about 3 months. Can't recall the exact details but that was about it. She didn't really have any problems with the meds. that I can recall. She actually never cultured for it again after that. I should add, with her CF lungs. She cultured aspergillus in her new lungs back in Jan. This brought on a whole different set of problems. However, she responded well to that treatment as well, but it was different.

My daughter, who is now 17, first cultured aspergillus when she was 12. Since then it has shown up in every sputum culture, but has never caused her any apparent problem. We were told by each of her doctors that there is no reason to treat it unless she become allergic, which would be shown by a decline in lung function. So we have never treated it. The docs said treatment would involve oral steroids, which are best to avoid if possible, but will do the trick if needed. Good luck!

Thanks, eases me a little. I can't take oral steroids, I am one of those people that they turn it a Jerk, and make crazy. Dr. Suggested an inhaled version that he said wouldn't do this.

Thanks for the information.
