Avoiding Cancer...

My understanding is that cfers are more prone to malignant cells which I believe can translate into cancer. From Karen & Troy (username karenb) we learned that one must be cancer free for 5 years in order to qualify to get listed for transplant. My fear is that shortly before it's time for me to be listed for a transplant, I'll get cancer. I know I shouldn't worry about this stuff and honestly I'm not as much fearful of it as just want to do what I can to prevent it. I feel now is the time to gain knowledge because I don't anticipate needing a transplant until I'm in my 40's-50's, so I have time to make an impact. Mandy's (username dramamama) mention of getting antioxidant levels tested has brought this once again to the forefront of my thinking since I believe free radicals can cause malignant cells.

After the baby arrives I plan to get my antioxidant levels checked. I also eat as much whole food as possible avoiding processed foods.

Are you doing anything or have you been thinking about doing anything in order to prevent or early diagnose cancer?

Is there a full body scan we could get to detect cancer early?
