back pain

I woke up this morning with some pain in my back. The pain is located right kind of under/next to my right shoulder blade. It hurts when I move it as well as occasionally when I take in a deep breath. I am guessing it is just a mucus plug trying to work its way out or a muscle pull. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal or get the pain to go away? Its really strange and feels like it should just pop, but it wont. Its not a joint, I know that much, but I am still stumped. I have been very healthy, I had a little sign of a cold last week, but feel that it went away...maybe a little bit more coughing than usual. I had my bf try to pound it out, but that didnt help.

Hello I am an old CF'er and very experienced with back pain. Don't mess with home remedies you may have a real problem. Ask your CF doctor for a reference and go to a good pain mgt. center. If you're lucky, the CF center you are attending may have an associated pain ctr. I got lucky with a great hospital CF & Pain network where they are able to look at all my stuff. The meds get complicated.

I played contact (football & wrestling) sports for many years @ 155 & 138 respectively. Not a big guy and got pounded as a running back / kick returner etc. The damage as follows 5 herniated disc's 2 bulging 1 compressed from my head to below the shoulder blades and I know exactly the felling "if I could only make it pop I'll feel better". Now 17 years later no pop! Don't mess with it get it checked your to young to mess with your back.

Good Luck, Steve
