Being around newborns

My friends are trying to get pregnant. That left me wondering if pwcf should stay away from newborns because of what we culture. I've always heard babies are particularly susceptible to germs. Is this safe? I know my friends aren't even thinking about this yet but I want to know if it means I won't be able to be around them after the baby's birth. Or if there is some sort of precaution I should be taking. Thanks for any help you can give. Ill definitely ask my dr at my next appointment but that's 2 months out.

If CFers couldnt be around newborns then that would be one of the big things mentioned when CFers want to have kids.

I am around my BFF 3 month old since the day she was born & no problems.

Good to know. The only other friends I have who have had babies had preemies so they had to keep them away from any germs so I didn't go close until they were 6 months old. I was terrified of thinking that I couldn't be around my friends newborn some day but I also wouldn't want to hurt the baby. My fear was that maybe newborns fall into the same category as the immunocompromised. Thanks for the quick response!
