Best Companies to Work for?

Hello, I have a question and I'd love to get as many responses as possible on this one.

Here's the deal, my husband is looking for a new job and my hopes would be for him to find the perfect job PLUS have it offer great insurance coverage. This goal of mine just came up in conversation with him tonight, I thought I had told him this before but apparently not. Woops. So now this dynamic changes *everything* when it comes to him looking for jobs. Now we can actually look anywhere in the country if we just shop by companies with great coverage (mixed with the best CF centers), versus having to stay in CA for my current GHPP state coverage.

1.
So what I'm looking for is a LIST of companies that you guys work for who have great coverage (meaning $400/month or less with no deductible, or anything better than that), and where is the company located? I'm not asking for insurance carriers, but the actual companies you know that offer good coverage. My husband is a manager of "customer intelligence" in the real estate industry right now so he would be looking for another manager's position or a director's title. This is why I'm asking all of you, b/c his role isn't necessarily company specific, since everyone needs managers and directors.

He used to work for ibm and other software companies in the past, so the range is a bit open.

We want to start job searching the companies you guys list since those will be the ones you know to have good insurance. Otherwise, how do you go after a job for it's insurance coverage? Any ideas on that are welcome too.

2.
Is there a list that defines where the best accredited CF centers are in the US?
That will be our other criteria for job hunting. I know there are some good ones on the East coast, right? We're totally open.

Thanks everyone ahead of time. I really hope people feel comfortable giving out a company name that is really good to work for. If not, PLEASE message me if you would, or email me: kmlangs@yahoo.com

He has an interview Monday with someone in SoCal but we have no idea of their insurance benefits.

My company, MOney Tree, has amazing benefits!! Free medical, dental, and vision for the employed. I'm not sure what the premium is for spouses since its just me on it but I do know that its less than $200 per month. The deductable is only $200. We have a retirement plan where the company contributes all the money to it, you don't have to put in a dime. We also get monthly bonuses. We were just voted the second best large company (over 500 employees) to work for in Washington state. Most of the score was based on the opinions of employees. The article appears in Washington CEO Magazine. We also have store is Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada, and Colorado. So finding one near an accredited CF center should be no problem. I live in wester Washington and I'm seen at the University of Washington MEdical Center. The CF FOundation does not rank CF centers but to find accredited ones go to www.cff.org

For more information on my company go to www.moneytreeinc.com

Good luck!

My husband works for FedEx Freight West (the Freight West part is important as there are 5 divisions to FedEx and they have different insurance carriers and plans)

What I can tell you about Cigna Health Ins through his employer is they pay for everything very well. For a family of four we get medical, dental & vision at a cost to us of $99 per month. We only have co-pays ranging from $10-$45 for visits and drugs and NOTHING else to pay -- no deductible, no co-insurance, nothing -- everything is paid at 100% after the deductible.

My kids are seen at Children's Hospital in Seattle (a CFF clinic) ~ there is also an adult CFF center here, the University of WA.

Seattle is a great place to live :)

Any pharmaceutical company will have dynamite insurance coverage. Some better than others, but for the most part they are incredible. And the great part about pharma sales (i have no clue if he would be interested) is that there are positions ANYWHERE in the country. You name the city, and there's a sales position there.

Obviously you don't have to do sales for these companies - but if you don't, you'll have to be at their home office. Amgen is located in Thousand Oaks. Most major pharms are on the east coast (Pfizer, Roche, Novartis, Sanofi-Aventis, Merck). Abbott, TAP and Takeda are in Chicago. I think AstraZeneca is in the south. But you can go to their websites and see where their headquarters are. Of course at headquarters you can go anything from Finance to IT to Manufacturing. Usually marketing is reserved for former sales reps (you have to work your way up).

I pay $80/month for my insurance. 0 deductable. $1000 out of pocket max for medical services. $10 per Rx, or if you do mail order, 90 days for $15. This includes expensive meds like TOBI or Pulmozyme. I'm serious. It's a PPO so seing Rao or any other pulm is no issue.

Accredited centers - just go to www.cff.org and then have a list by state of the Centers.

Let me know if I can provide any more info.

Maybe he could consider working for an insurance company... where better to get good insurance? I worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN for several years. We had much better than average insurance and paid nearly nothing for it, (though they were going to raise the premium a little the year after I left so I don't know what it is now). But it doesn't have to be Blue Cross or MN...there are insurance companies all over the place and they have all different departments (customer service, information technology, human resources, marketing, underwriting...etc) so he could do just about anything. All departments need managers and directors. As far as CF Centers, MN is definately up there as far as good centers go but you have to be a special kind of person to take the weather. I loved everyhing else about Minnesota but the weather absolutely stinks.

Good luck.

your best bet is to try and get in with the city, or county because
they give you money per month for insurance and you dont pay a
dime..... and just out of curiosity, i hear that it rains in
washington every day, so how can that be a nice place to live.... i
hate the rain, and i can't imagine living in that gloom day in and
day out!!!!!!!

My husband works for the railroad and has great insurance. We pay $15 co-pay for office visits, $30 for emergency room visits. All hospitalizations, labs are 100% covered. Prescription co-pays are $5 for generic and $10 for name brand. Something I am very grateful for when picking up things like TOBI and Pulmozyme.

I think they take less than $100 out of his paycheck every two weeks. Not too sure about that, but it's pretty reasonable.

Quad Graphics is self insured, and i believe we pay $17 a week for the two of us. Quad also has their own doctors, who we pay nothing for, and their own pharmacy where generic drugs are of no cost to us. 10% on all non-generic drugs. The kicker is that when i go outside of thier sepecialist it's not all that cheap. But it would be great for the average family.

It rains a lot in Seattle but not every day! In fact we've had 2 weeks of gorgeous weather straight! Most people who have never been here think it just down pours all the time, but usually its drizzle. Our summers are awesome, I don't know why you would ever leave here during the summer if you lived here. And our winters aren't harsh either. We're close to the ocean and the mountains. There is tons of stuff to do around here. I love Seattle and I hope I never have to leave for any reason!

I've heard that Starbucks has an excellent health plan-even for part time workers. And I also heard that being an employee of the state can have amazing benefits. In New Jersey-though there is a crisis right now with state workers-typically a worker gets great health-like co pays of 3 or 4 dollars! And paid vacation, and sick time.

I'm with Jessie ~ it does not rain every day in the Seattle area ~ Whoever told you that must have wanted you to stay away :) (just kidding)

Yes, in the winter it does rain more but what I like are the loooooong summers and the very mild, boring weather the rest of the time. It was nice to give up all our heavy winter coats, boots, hats and gloves when we moved here from Idaho.

hey kelly!

i was thinking of this company when you first asked the question then when you said he had worked for software companies i thought, perfect! there is a software company called SAS. there is a branch minutes from my house. it is a GREAT place to work...they have a reputation for AMAZING benefits and as a fantastic place to work. i would definitly look there. of course here we are close to University of North Carolina and Duke Mecical Center, both great CF centers, but SAS also has campuses all over the country.

there is also a place here called Research Triangle Park (i bet some of your medicines come from here.) i have heard it compared to a "silicone valley" type of place. they have tons of pharma and software and all kinds of big corporate places with great benefits... worth looking there too, perhaps.

good luck!

Christian is right, NJ pays their state workers really well, and offers them incredible benefits. I would imagine most state workers get paid well. I just spoke to a correction officer I met at a party the other day and she gets great benefits, five weeks vacation, and many other perks.

Good luck,

Jennifer
