Biaxin 500 mg

The doxicyclene wasn't doing its job so this morning I stopped that and started generic Biaxin. Has anyone taken this before? I am nervous because I have had 2 serious allergic reactions to sulfa as well as augmentin. I took my first biaxin 2 hrs ago and am fine so far...but still nervous! I also have an epi pen just in case I have a reaction....and benadryl of course.

I am taking it for 2 weeks...if I get sick again soon after...will take it for 3 weeks...and if that doesn't work I will start inhaled Tobi for 30 days (I have never taken it before-as I have only culture PA twice - once each time I was pregnant, which was 8 years ago and 6 years ago). I am hoping the Biaxin does the trick! I guess it is in the same family as Zithromax (Azithromyacin).

if you've taken zithro before you should be fine.

true macrolide allergies are incredibly rare.

what bacteria are they trying to treat with the doxy and/or biaxin?

I'm pretty sure I have taken Zithromax before-although it has been at least 8 years.
I just get nervous when starting new antibiotics-and get panic attacks ever since my last allergic reaction. Scary stuff!
But-so far so good <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
