Woke up to news of a big explosion here in Des Moines. Chemical solvent plant, and hugh plume of black, billowing smoke. Thank heavens , only one injury. Lynda sent me a picture of an explosion from same company in KC IN July--looks similar--thanks Lynda!

I had just woke up (after working last night), and of all things, had it on Fox News, and they showed this hugh, hugh mushroom cloud with multiple explosions happening constantly, and said DES MOINES, IOWA! Imagine my shock!

We have train cars on the track behind the plant and they are worried about them also. There are 12 different flamable solvents stored in this plant--I don't know how many barrels keep exploding--but they say there are 55 gallon barrels hurling through the air! All of our fire stations are there. Thank goodness they have opened up both the Interstates (which were closed)--as it is getting toward rush hour traffic.

Big, black cloud of chemical smoke blowing over Des Moines--great! At least they are testing it for air quality right now, and it is nothing that is dangerous for the population!

Big excitement here in town!
