Hi everyone,
I have a gyno appt. tomorrow and this dr. knows very little about CF. I am going to switch this summer but haven't yet. Anyway, I want to switch to a pill from the patch. Are there any pills that are better for us CFers? Any to stay away from?

I know there are other ways besides the pill but for right now I would like to stay with that.

I can't take the pill (messes with my liver-slows down my bile flow<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ), but I am going to ask about the Ring next time I go in, and about skipping a few periods in between. We have a thread around here somewhere that has some bc discussion in it, but I don't think it answers all of your questions...hopefully, someone else will be here with good info on the pill, since I am not up to date on it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .

I'm on microgestin (generic pill). It seems to work okay, I don't really know any other BC pills to tell you to stay away from, but I HIGHLY recommend looking into trying the NuvaRing. Your gyno might have a free sample for you to try for a month. I thought it was wonderful. You insert it and leave it in for 3 weeks. It slowly releases the BC right to where it needs to go unlike pills that have to be digested and absorbed first. Then, you remove it and you get your period, then insert a new one after a week. It's really easy, I can't tell you how much I liked it. Check it out with your insurance first though if you're interested. My new insurance won't cover all of it b/c it doesn't have a generic form (they told me my copay for it could be anywhere from $70-$150!!!). So, I switched to the pill and am now on microgestin. Good luck. Hope you find something that works for you.

for me personally, i cant take anything with less than 35 mcg of estrogen in it otherwise i break through, most likely due to absorption problems.
