Birth Control

Hello I am a 19 year old women with CF. I have been looking into different birth control methods but I have heard that the pill, or the patch isn't as affective when you are on antibiotics. I know there are other things we could use. I want to use more than one to be safe: like the pill and condoms. I was just wondering what other women with CF use. What has worked and what has not.
Thanks for all your input.

neat, Debbie!
Dear anonymous, I actually do birth control counseling in my job and have been interested in the factors affecting birth control for women with CF. If you want to, send me a private message and we can talk about your needs ...

I had the same issue when I decided to start birth control-my GYN suggested the NUVA ring. There are some antibiotics it doesn't interfere with-TOBI, Zithromax....and when I do go on IVs I double up with condoms for a month after I use antibiotics.

The NUVA ring is great-I love it. You can't feel it at all-you don't have to remind yourself to take anextra pill each day. Love it.
