I had one done a couple of years ago. They gave me some morphine to dull my sensations, then ended up giving me this LSD type drug that cuts off brain activity so that you don't remember anything about the procedure - almost like you're "out of it" during. I remember waking up about 10 mins after the procedure, and didn't remember a thing. The last thing I remembered was the nurse putting a cloth over my eyes to protect from backsplash. According to my doctor I talking, laughed and cracked jokes throughout the whole procedure, but I don't remember a thing. Very creepy. I don't think your son has anything to worry about. Its a pretty simple procedure, and more likely then not he won't remember a thing! Afterwards though he may feel sick from the meds given to him. I know I threw up all day and couldn't eat anything other then broth and crackers. He'll also cough a bit and may have streaks of blood in his sputum for a couple of days, but its nothing to worry about unless its huge amounts of blood - like a couple of teaspoons or something.
