Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone ever gets a very painful burning in there chest when they breath? I get this alot, but it has been very bad for the last two days. If anyone has this, what can help make it better?

Thanks, Donna

Do you notice if it happens more after you eat?

Is it possibly heartburn or reflux? I know I was having a burning type sensation in what felt like my esophagus when I was on IVs last month. I was also getting short of breath and a dry cough. I talked to my doc about it and he gave me nexium for acid reflux. It has helped alot. I still get occasions where I feel like acid is coming up - but that is usually only when I eat something spicy.

Lindsey,
Thanks for replying. It is not heartburn though. The only way I can describe it is that if you are breathing in very cold air it kind of makes your chest burn, if that makes any since. It usually happens if my cough gets really bad.

I've gotten this from time to time sometimes for hours sometimes for days... the doc told me it was from the scar tissue from the CF and different parts of your lungs rubbing together without any "lubrication" (for lack of a better term).... She said it was pretty normal, although sometimes it hurts like crazy and ibu. or tyl. don't help. I hope you feel better soon. Does it feel better if you put a heating pad on or press a pillow or something against your chest? This sometimes gives me relief.

Take care,
