My baby had a sweat test done today after numerous dr.s visits. Can anyone talk about his symptoms with me? I'm waiting for the results inthe morning and am nervous.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">
What symptoms does your baby have that they thought the sweat test was in order?
When they did the test on my son it was for frequent, loose, bulky and greasy stools. He was always fighting a "cold". Lack of growth and weight gain. Huge appetite. And salty skin.
When will you get the results of your sweat test? Keep us posted. My son was a typical case: consistent cough, failure to thrive, oily stools, big appetite, salty when I kissed him, etc. Each case is different, but these are probably the most common symptoms.
the stool and eating or weight gain is the biggest but there are alot more. what i dont understand is i have never heard of anyone waiting more than 5 mins for a result but this may be standing protocol in your hospital. "make them wait". plus if you hosp isnt a certified center then you will need to go to one if it is positive there. our daughter had oily stools to the point of sometimes it was just oil. anyways good luck but remember there is alot of support here if and when you need it.
Just want to blow off a little steam. My son always gets a runny nose days before he gets a bad cough. When I report this to his Dr, they always feel compelled to tell me that a runny nose has nothing to do with his CF. I always nod my head, but I know his symptoms better than any Dr.
