cat litter

ok thank you. i didnt think it would but my girl friends mother seems to think it does. how about alot of dust?

I think it's more the poop, for lack of a better word that you need to be worried about. I would just ask someone else to change the box & do it often.

I used to have a lung dr. before I started the CF center that each time I would go to him, he always asked if we had a cat and I would always say yes. Then he'd ask who changes the litter. He said it usually bother's people with CF. But my boyfriend always deals with the cat so I never really took that comment as anything. When I started going to the CF center they told me there's no reason I can't have a cat as long as it's not bothering my symptoms. I'm sure each dr you talk to will have different opinions. Eva

My husband and I have two cats and have had them for 3+ years, never had a problem with the cats litter boxes. He has CF, and I usually change the boxes but he will change them as needed as well (I work 12hr shifts at a hospital 3-5 days a week so sometimes I don't have time) and never has a problem. Just be careful of dupming an entire litter box all at once from the dust cloud and such but other than that, there isn't a problem.

I ve had CF all my life (surprise surprise) and also cats all my life. I ve never had a problem changing litter trays. I imagine pregnat women are the only people at risk from Toxiycima (i cant spell it).
Its usefull to use the light weight cat litter or ideally sand! Otherwise I would nt worry.
