We have been listening to our daughter's lungs with a stethoscope since she was dx over 4 years ago. It is really helpful. I can describe what I hear (crackling, popping, wheezing/whining, etc) and the location of the sound to the CF nurse over the phone. I know what my daughter's baseline sounds are (clear breathing, none of the sounds mentioned above) so I know to listen for something different. Knowing the location can be really helpful bc you can target CPT there. Also, sometimes she will get a horrible sounding cough from sinus post-nasal drainage but when I listen to her lungs they sound clear - that is really helpful bc its the only way for me to be sure her cough isn't in her chest.
