Have any of you heard of CF being pretty much in the background and undiagnosed and then all of a sudden quickly getting worse at a later age?

There are some people who go through a big part of their life without knowledge of having cf, only to have problems come up later in life which brings to them a diagnosis. It can progress slowly, then fast, then slow; fast, then slow then fast; however it wants really. There can be a sudden downturn at any time, or it may progress at a steady rate. Its a little different for everyone.

Yep, I'm a perfect example.

Dx @ 25, first round of IVs @ 43, now since I've turned 50, it decided to kick in full time giving me every kind of h*ll imaginable. My baseline keeps slipping even though I'm extremely compliant.

CF is unpredictable for sure . . . you never know where it will take you or how fast. I try to keep a good attitude and roll with the punches as best I can.
It definitely keeps me dancing on my toes.

Well I was diagnosed as a baby, but the only way I knew I had CF until the age of 17 was taking enzymes and being thin. Then I went to some dumb student government camp that summer, caught a bug from somebody, and it's been a cough fest ever since!
