hello,

If my mind serves me correctly I believe they told me I had to wait till 14 weeks of pregnancy....but I am not certain. I personally refused the test...my pregnancy was accidental but they told me 1 out of 200 babies die from the amnio so I decided not to chance it and accept whatever I was given. My son was born healthy .... we also have 1 with CF.

Best of Luck
Babies are a gift from God ....w/cf or not<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">))

From what I've read cf can be caught with an amniocentisis or CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling). CVS can be done between 10-13 weeks with results within a week later. Amnio can be done from 14-20 weeks plus time for results (both stats from "what to expect when you're expecting"). We were told by our OB that both procedures carry a risk (similar to the above 1 in 200) of miscarriage. She recommended that if were weren't going to change our course of action in the event of cf (abort) she'd rather not do the procedure given the risks.

From what I've read, no. Good Q for your doctor though. Let us all know if you find out otherwise . . .
