I just recently found out on Friday that I have cfrd (Iam 38 yrs old and female), I will find everything out on Monday when I go and talk about what to do/not to do. I do have a question tho....For those of you who already have been dealing with CFRD and are/were working, those of you who were Did you have to quit working because of your CFRD? and if you are working and you have CFRD did/does your doctor advise you to quit your job? I'm just wondering if now that I have CFRD if it would be in MY best interest to quit my job or just keep werkin till I just can't anymore? Any/all imput will be helpful. Again I know nothing as of yet as to what I am not/should do, I will find out Monday.

Cutecurlz,

Quit your job because you have diabetes? I am not sure what reason you think that might be needed. Are you tired, coughing more? That is not due to diabetes.

I have been diabetic for about 18 years. It never effected my job. I went to the doc as required, followed the recommendations they gave me, check my glucose often. Everything is fine.

Did you read somewhere that not working would be good?

I don't see any reason you should let diabetes affect your working. So long as you are able to manage it properly you should have no problems. I myself do not work and am on disability for my lung problems related to CF, that is why I do not work. My diabetes is not the reason. I think that is the case with most of the others on this site that do not work ... that it is due to lung function and chronic problems with their lungs mainly that cases them to stop working. I may be wrong, but that is my asumption.
