Challenge

Like many others here, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Troy, dear husband to our good friend Karen.

Karen was one of the first people that I felt connected to here. She hasn't been around for several months, so many of you do not know her. I don't remember if she told us she was leaving, or if she just quietly left to focus on Troy and Kayla and the remains of their beautiful life together. I do know that her absence was felt.

Karen is a beautiful person. She is the person who cooks a little extra so she has some to share with the neighbors. She is the person who defends anyone who cannot defend himself. She prefers to spend her time and energy on the positive, rather than getting involved in petty disagreements.

I do not believe that Troy ever participated on this board. We knew him only through her. I can imagine, though, that he must have been a very special person to have won the love of a woman like Karen.

So, here is my challenge to us all. For this week, let's be inspired by Karen. Let's each try to find one small thing to do this week that makes the world a better place. Perform a random act of kindness. Tell someone how much you appreciate them. Donate to a charity you don't usually support. Take a meal to a friend. Do something small, meaningful and positive.

Then, at the end of the week, return to this thread and share your experience. Maybe we can inspire each other to make room for these small acts in our lives on a regular basis.

I can think of no better way to honor Troy. Or Ry, Josh, Allan, Traci, JB, Tom, John, and all the others we have lost.

I think this is a great idea too. One thing that I always liked, which might work for anyone who knew them, was when they did something Ry was into or supported.

Or if Karen wanted to tell us how to best honor Troy when she feels like it, that'd help too.
