Cipro

I need to have an oral maintenance abx for a few weeks until I get my next cycle of Aztreanam. I just finished up 3 weeks of IV's and inhaled Aztreanam. Now I need something to cover me for 4 weeks. My new doc has recommended Cipro 500 mg 2x/day by itself. Do any of you who culture PA use this med BY ITSELF as a maintenance. It will just be for the four weeks and I will go on something different after that. I have heard it is not good to use a PA sensitive drug by itself; but, for maintenance over a month....I am just wondering.

I often use Cipro as a follow up to IV's for my PA. I am always on Bactrim, but that is for my MRSA.

because i've had cipro so many times (to my understanding, i just want to throw that in there) my pa is resistant to the cipro. i would think as long as your pa isn't resistant to it i wouldn't think it would be a bad idea. if that made any sense.

I use Cipro by itself a lot. But I have to take 500 mg 3x a day, not 2. I use it every month for 2 weeks.
Oh and just wondering, is Aztreanam available now? I did the study a few years ago and it worked wonders for me. I have been waiting for it to come out but I havent heard anything and didnt know if its available.
