Creative Memories

Anyone do this?

My mom and I started Creative Memories together when I was in high school. It is so fun and therapeutic. I find it so uplifting to reflect on good times in my life and if I'm ever not here anymore it will be a nice memorial to me and the people I loved. I have a big album dedicated to my high school years, one to college, one to my study abroad trip to Italy, one for my reunions each year with my high school friends, one for my wedding and one for trips with my husband (Hawaii and Costa Rica so far). It forces me to print my digital pictures and actually have them in an album that I can enjoy. Creative Memories is also a great way to meet new people.

We do scrapbooking too. We started last year when my daughter was in 5th grade. I just started my 9 yr old sons. It is a great thing to do together - even my son is excited. Just takes alot of time - which is hard to come by. But my daughter keeps pushing me to keep going. Some people are so creative with them. Yesterday at a book fair I bought a little scrapbook that was named "My Son" or something like that. Anyway It was all decorated and had alot of inspirational saying in it - then you just add pictures to it. I thought I would give him when alittle older and has some bad days thinking about cf or his health.

My 19 yr. old loves to do scrap booking. She started to do this when she was in high school and has continued to do it. The only thing for her is that it does get a little spendy lol. She buys her materials anywhere she can get them the cheapest. She has completed some wonderful scrap books though. They make great keepsakes!

I have been scrapbooking for several years. I am going to become a Creative Memories consultant in a few weeks. I love their products.

Recently I finished an album about my grandmother's life - she's 83 - I've never seen her cry except when I gave her this book. It's spurred the whole family to be much more interested in geneology and our family's history.

She had to best comments to write under the pictures as well. For example, there was a picture of her aunt that she used to go on strolls with. She said she could see a dress in a window and go home and make a pattern for it and sew it! Isn't that cool!!

I also learned that way back when a woman in my family was widowed with 2 kids - worked in a cafeteria - ended up marrying the president of the company where the cafeteria was.

It's great stories like these that make scrapbooking so fun! Love it!

So I'm going to a scrapbooking workshop tonight. I'm really excited for some reason. It's been since the Fall that I've really done anything on my scrapbooks.
A portion of the sales at the workshop are benefitting CFF. I asked the consultant, whom I've actually never met, what her connection to CF is and she says she has a co-worker with a daughter with CF. http://www.cff.org/great_strides/SierraManieri I haven't broken to her that I have CF yet. Maybe I'll wait and tell her next time. Does anyone else play 'games' with telling people. I was so temped when she replied to my email about her connect with CF with the greatstrides site to Bam! send mine right back at her with no explanation... then I decided that would probably hurt her so I thought I better not do it this way.

I just started a scrapbook yesterday! Today is Mike's birthday and I am making him one about us, with how we met and everything. I've saved ticket stubs and the sugar packets from our first restuarant date and hospital parking passes. he never knew any of that and he is really excited about it! ;-)
