Anyone else out there diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and a negative sweat test (under 30)?? If so, what are your mutations? Is your lung disease mild, sinuses really bad, and are you pancreatic sufficient? Thanks.

Hi,I found this from a pubmed article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgicmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=14598187&dopt=Abstract"Group B included 13 compound heterozygote cystic fibrosis patients who carried one mutation known to cause mild disease with a borderline or normal sweat test and pancreatic sufficiency (3849+10kb C-->T, 5T)." I have one copy of 3849+10kb C>T and my sweat test was borderline, I only take one enzyme/meal and my lungs are not too bad considering I'm 43.Tammy 43wcf

Hi, Having a negative sweat test doesn't mean you dont have CF, but it could be less severe. Moreover, it can still be homozygous and with time you will develop the same lung problems as those with positive tests especially when you get pseudomonas. Rami
