Cystic Fibrosis Medical Alert Bracelets

Just wanted to let you know that I have found a company that is now offering medical alert bracelets (like the rubber ones that have stuff on them). They say medic alert ( cystic fibrosis). I know that some people have tried other medical bracelets but have not been able to wear them . Then last week I talked with them and they said that they would offer the (cystic fibrosis) ones . However your order must be a total of 10.00. There are other medical alert braclets there as well they come in all differnt sizes like for kids adult etc . There is not a photo of them yet but I am hoping they will post one soon. I am going to be ordering some of these at the end of the week and then I'll post a photo at the cystic fibrosis pen pal club site so everyone can take a look at them here is the web page address http://www.mediband.com.au/index.php then click on children's bracelets and you will then see the one for cystic fibrosis. Talk to you all soon-

Thank you David, I'm not sure I would want Kaylee to wear one though, I feel it would "brand" her, and she is not allergic to anything. There are no specific precautions they would have to take if something happened, and we would be there 99% of the time. Thanks for the info though.

I don't understand the "branding" thing. I've worn one for most of my life, and can count on one hand the number of times anyone asked/noticed. Mine are the traditional bracelet types though. I pretty mine up and get compliments all the time though.
Alot of kids at my elementary school wore them too. I think it's pretty normal now.
CF *does* matter if you're hurt. When i fell off a horse and broke my neck the EMTS freaked out because i started hacking up blood and my o2 stats sucked. I was lucky my instructor was there and she knows- i would probably have gotten an unesserary chest tube or something.
Also, if you need emergency surgery or something, having lung disease is a big deal, but not something they'll really check for.

I didn't see the CF one(Link?) but i'd probably buy one for sports. Does it have the lettering on one side and then just the red on the other?

There was a thread not too long ago about how many CF ppl wear medical bracelets. So many of us here do, and I think it's a really great idea. It made me consider getting one. I've had enough really odd health situations happen to me where I can easily see where having a bracelet (or some kind of communication piece) to let medics know what's up with me would be very beneficial. Those times where you black out, or can't quite speak or think clearly and you're alone....it could come in handy.

Anyone have any stories of when your bracelet (or a piece of paper explaining your health situation) came in handy and you were happy to have had it?

Thanks David for posting this.
