Diabetes and Pregnancy

I'm scratching my head at a question that was posed on another thread, regarding diabetes and pregnancy. My boyfriend and I have decided that come summer/fall we'd like to start trying to conceive. I'm a healthy CFer - my PFTs are great, lung function is great, minor lung damage, etc. I'm also diabetic, and I know that this will be one other thing that I will have to deal with when pregnant. What my question is, is that are there any women on here who were diabetic before they conceived? - and if so, how were your experiences? Should there be anything I should worry about etc? Or is getting pregnant while you have both CF and Diabetes a bad thing?

Having diabetes isnt ideal, but many, many woman have it before & many develop gestational diabetes while pregnant...CFers & non Cfers. That is why they do a glucose test during pregnancy. As long as you monitor the sugars & if need be control them with insulin, there should be no major problems. I developed gestational & used insulin plus I have CF (obbviously) & I havce epilepsy. My daughter is perfectly healthy & for the most part I had a great pregnancy!
