So I had my blood glucose test at the end of my admission and they said that my levels were no longer normal and I have to go in and learn how to test my blood sugars and then we'll go from there so I'm a little concerned as you can imagin. Has anyone else gone through this and if so can you offer me some advice?? Please

It can be a bit overwhelming. The only time I had a real problem handling all the info was with my gestional diabetes. The other times didnt seem as trying on me. It does take some getting use to, but like so many other things in life. Once you start dealing with it on a regular basis, its second nature.

I'll admit, all the info that you'll be given will be a little overwhelming, but you will get the hang of it, and it'll all become second nature to you, just like CF. Non of the info I don't think is complicated, its just a matter of learning these new things and carrying on. You'l become old hat in no time!

Hi...38 yr old female with CF and just recently diagnosed with CFRD. I was diagnosed with CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes) about 2 weeks ago. Right now all I am doing is testing my blood sugar levels to see when it "peeks". I got a blood sugar level checker thingy from the drug store for free but ya gotta pay for the other stuff that comes with it. My 2 hour fasting test was "15", b4 that it was 5.5, so that big jump makes me CFRD. As to what happens next.....I dunno! Ihave to wait til the CF/Diabetes doc looks over my BG levels and go from there. As far as I know there is a 95% chance that I'll have to take insulin one way or another....if you have any other questions you can email me at jinakicksbutt@hotmail.com and I will try my best to answer you.
