Do you dream of coughing?

I'm not sure if it was due to the years of coughing or maybe just
sheer exhaustion but I would sometimes sleep through my coughing
episodes at night... but that isnt the question...but if you do
this I would be interested to know....

the question is, how many if any, of you dream of coughing? There
are some nights I would swear I spent the whole night barking up a
lung, only to ask if anyone heard me with a resounding No being
echoed from everyone in the house...and the tell tale signs of
tissues are not there..I've done this on more then one occasion,
well actually I have done so quite frequently...

The other thing that I find quite humorous which is totally
unrelated to this particular question is that pre tx I coughed
blood on a regular basis (every day usually a cup at a go) I
started having hemoptysis episodes when i was 2 and towards the
last 3 years prior to transplant it was a daily thing with that
familiar gurgle from my lungs followed by the flood of blood to
follow.(I could even pick which side was bleeding)..the funny thing
is, even though my new lungs are normal with no holes in which to
bleed I still get the gurgling sensation the only thing missing is
the familiar out pour of blood that should follow.....

anyway, how many of us dream of coughing?

cheers
I do not remember having any dreams of coughing before my transplant but I had two dreams on different occasions after my first transplant that I got cf in my new lungs and I remember feeling very confident that I was going to handle it well. lol

There is a type of chronic rejection that is similar to CF. I did not have that kind but I am just getting over a cold and now that I am trying to bring up stuff it reminds me of the struggles of cf. Thankfully, I have the knowlege of how to cough effectively and do all the extra things to speed up the healing. In two more days I should be all clear.

Once you get a transplant there is always the cf sinuses and there is mucus there so it makes perfect sense for me to think on a subconscious level that cf can go into the lungs but when I awake I knew better to know it was just a dream. I do remember having my favorite male therapist working on my chest so that was a fun part of the dream

Diane-- I have had those running dreams too, and I too marvel that I can run that far.

The worst dreams I have had are ones where I actually have trouble breathing. I think this might have to do with the position I am sleeping in at the time. Whatever the case, they are awful, and I wake up gasping for air.

When I'm sick with an infection I usually dream of coughing up lots of blood, but I think that's due to the fact that when I first started getting hemoptysis 2 years ago it almost always started while I was sleeping.

Dreams

When I was young, I was in pretty good shape

I ran ,I lifted ( still do this) , I road bikes for miles and miles.
But the running and running is really what I miss.
I played soccer too.
So I have these dreams sometimes that I am running on a long road
it is nice out, not hot or too cool, and I realize that I am running
and I am not out of breath, I can breathe even better than I
ever could,,, When I realize I am running it where I wake up....

What a dream,

I have dreams about throwing up too. I actually used to read a lot of Freud (when getting psych degree), and its actually psychosymatic. Usually, if you are having stomach or digestive upset (according to Freud), it manifests itself in your dreams in various forms.... hearburn, throwing up, etc. I don't know how much ya'll believe about Freud, but this seems possible. It has to do with the fact that in REM sleep, your body is essentially paralyzed, so you don't actually have the capability to physically do these things, but they may be your body "acting out" the motions.

Also, if this is the case with digestive upset, perhaps dreaming that you're coughing is a manifestation of a "tickle" in your throat or infection, etc... Just a thought. Could be the same thing... maybe your body wants to cough and get "gunk" out, but can't cause you're in REM sleep. I don't know. Just thinking out loud. I'm facsinated by dreams.

I have one re-occuring dream, and in the dream I have either lost all of my teeth, or my teeth are welded shut, and I'm trying to grind them open while they feel lose or falling out. Its a creepy dream that I hate to have everytime.

I love running dreams but the BEST of all are dreams are when you are Flying. So cool cannot describe. You do not want to wake up that is how great they are.
