I know of children who draw off their parents because their parents get disability (so therefore your children get benefits up to the maximum family allowance, which is different for every family).

It IS completely possible for you, someone with a disability to draw off your parents or grandparents retirement social security, but I don't recall hearing of anyone on this site doing that. Hope maybe someone does and they can help you. Otherwise, I do have some general information from the SSA regarding it.

You can draw off a parent or grandparents social security if you are determined to have a disability. If you need info on it, I have some, email me at division902@hotmail.com

I havent actual drawn my SS like you speak of, BUT my Mom did go & attempt to apply after my DX. Unfortuately since my Mom gets rattled easily & got pissed off/upset/whatever, she walked out of the interview & never finished the application process so when I filed for my disability it was all based on my own work history. Secondly I did received survivor benefits from when my Dad died. He was collecting retirement ss when he died & I was entitled to dependant child coverage until I was 19 if I stayed in school. My Mom seriously asked me to fail my Junior year so we would get another year of SS. I refused to & she would deny it now, but she did! Third of all my daughter does collect a portion of my ss disability now. She is entitled to that until she is 16 & if I pass away before she is 16, she continues to get it & my husband gets a portion for caretaker of her until she is 16! I know it doesnt exactly answer your ??, but there have been people (I dont know any CFers tho people with other illness...mainly CP) who collect under their parents!
