Haley here, infrequent poster. I'll try to make a long story short here, and I hope someone has some input.
I'm 19 with Cf, lung functions are usually 40%-50%, i've got psedomonas, MRSA, CFRD.
Anyways, I had been feeling really exhaused for the longest time and had been having fevers at night. For a while I chalked it up to just a little lung infection or just the natural downward progression of CF. Then my primary care DR suggested I get tested for lyme disease, since fatigue is like the #1 symptom and it's a big problem where I live (in RI).
So the test came back, and it looks like I had lyme disease some time in the past, I'm now infected with what they call a "co-infection," another type of bacteria that ticks can pass along. The bug is called erlichiosis. So anyways, she has me on 400mg of doxy a day.
Should I be worried about unnecessary exposure to antibiotics and possible resistance in this case. If it won't hurt I figure I might as well try it, but if it will jeopardize future treatment for lung infections, I might rethink this thearpy.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
