Drug Trials

I know this has been asked before but I don't remember if it was ever answered? Does anyone have any average data suggesting the time it takes for new drugs to complete trials? Obviously the research phase is very open ended but I was wondering about how long it takes to complete Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 testing?

It varies so widely.

Some drugs need to be tested over longer periods of time in order to ensure safety or efficacy.

And often times, especially with CF, money is a factor. So if there's not enough money to conduct a phase of a trial, then the phase is put on hold until money comes. Then the phase will be taken back up.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir, but a lot of people dont' realize how COSTLY these clinical trials are. There is so much protacol set up by the FDA, and it makes the whole process extremely costly.

Hope this helps.
